Ballpoint Illustration / Mixtape

I originally drew this in 2014, while I was studying for an audio exam in college. To borrow a music term, I recently remastered the drawing (is there an illustration-equivalent?), and it felt like a good time for a throwback. Consider this is an ode to:

1) Music in general. I love music and listen to a lot of it. You can find me as OneCuriousChip over on Spotify if you're curious, though I'll warn you my taste in music is not for everyone! ("The Highline" playlist features some of my all-time favourites, and "Is This Thing On?" is my ever-changing current favourites playlist - I listen to it everyday.) Also, discover weekly et al has been disappointing lately, so if anyone has any good songs / bands / playlists, I am very open to suggestions! 👍

2) Lou Ottens, the Dutch engineer who designed the cassette tape and was involved in the development of the CD. He died earlier this month at the age of 94.

3) Old-school, analog tech. Sometimes the world feels too digital and I find myself missing buttons and dials and tangible things you can actually interact with and hold in your hands. It's why I like traditional illustration: you don't need electricity to see it, you can touch it, it exists in the world because I put pen to paper. I like that feeling. (Also, I still don't quite understand NFTs, or what they mean for the future of art. The whole thing seems... A bit not good. 🙄)
